Adapted for the stage by Constance Cox, “Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime” is a story by the legendary Oscar Wilde.
Very much a farce, the story’s centres around Lord Arthur Savile, who is told after having his palm read, that he will commit a murder during his life time. Lord Arthur is shortly to be married so he plans to commit a perfect murder before his wedding by choosing to do away with one of his many elderly relatives.
I thought that P & P players made an excellent job of this production. With a very impressive set and some excellent period costumes, the ladies looked magnificent, they certainly created a Victorian feel to the whole play.
The well balanced cast, all gave excellent performances. The play had good pace, excellent diction and kept the audience enthralled throughout
I must also mention the bomb with the slow burning fuse that was timed to perfection, created by the stage manager Glenville. An excellent piece of workmanship
A very enjoyable evenings’ entertainment
