Saundersfoot Footlights transformed their space into a fabulous theatre with their phenomenal set, great lighting plots and impressive cast. The Footlights society embarked on performing the comedy horror rock musical, Little Shop of Horrors. A well-known story follows the hapless florist shop worker, Seymour Krelborn, who nurtures some seeds into an alien plant in the hope of changing his fortunes. Little does he know that his ‘strange and interesting’ plant, which feeds on human blood and flesh, has plans of its own.

Showing great enthusiasm, the cast delivered some exceptional moments. Jordan Dickin, was suitably cast as the nerdy, needy and pathetic Seymour, and provided an exceptional performance, showcasing excellent musical ability. Audrey, played by Tessa Rees, gave a great interpretation of the hopeless, gullible heroine, with truly beautiful vocals. Audrey 2 was skilfully executed in a combined effort by both puppeteer, Andy Griffiths and vocalist, Aaron Evans to provide a convincing portrayal of the animated plant. Mr. Mushnik, played by Steve Butler performed the shopkeeper extremely well and I enjoyed his duet with Seymour ‘Mushnik and Son’. Orin, played by Gareth Morris gave a convincing performance, a difficult character to interpret and I believe Gareth brought Orin to life. The Ronnettes played by Lana Lewis, Tamsin Mathias and Megan Prickett were well cast and delivered some truly great vocals, certainly talents to watch out for in the near future.

The ensemble as always came together and threw themselves into the spirit of the production with great enthusiasm, it was evident that each individual thoroughly enjoyed being involved in this great musical.
