A relaxing and informal evening with a wide and varied programme, it was full of contrasting changes of mood with something different for everyone.  Just as the title says, Halifax Light took us around the world with music from many different countries.  Starting off with "There's No Cure like Travel" and finishing with "All Over the world".  There were songs from the old shows like Brigadoon, Can-Can, The Wizard of Oz, through to some of the most recent shows like Wicked and The book of the Mormon.  Singing is what this society excels at, but this year they included lots of slick but simple choreography that helped to enhance this production.  Their soloists had an in  depth of talent, they were a delight to listen to, Anne Woodhouse with "How Are Things in Gloccamorra", Richard Armstrong with "The American Dream" and Amy Straw delivering "Just Arrived" giving us a preview of their next production Copacabana.  An extremely talented Ned Smith and Amy Straw performed a dance duet with energy and flair to "Hernando's Hideway".  The whole society was dressed in black and added lots of different coloured accessories to each and every number.  A lovely way to spend a summers evening, we have come to expect a high standard from this company and they did not disappoint.  My sincere congratulations to each and everyone involved.
