What a pleasure, and indeed an honour, it was too been invited to this very special concert in aid of The Salisbury Hospice Charity. As Yorkshire man I have been a fan Lesley Garrett for many years, we speak the same language, therefore it was wonderful to part of the near capacity audience that was buzzing with anticipation.

Accompanied on piano by Anna Tilbrook Lesley Garrett sang four sets throughout the evening. There was something for everyone from Grand Opera through to Rogers and Hammerstein. My personal favourites were her opening number 'Don’t Be Cross' from 'Der Obersteiger' and 'One Kiss' from 'New Moon', but each and every number was excellent. She told us of her great love for Cricket and she dedicated her last solo number “The Impossible Dream” to the England football team.

Interlinked with Lesley was  a first class performance from a choir of Musical Theatre Salisbury members, they sang a varied selection from a selection of musical shows, starting with 'Hail Poetry' from 'The Pirates of Penzance' through to 'Bui Doi' from 'Miss Saigon'.

For the Grand Finale the choir joined Lesley Garrett to sing 'Some Enchanted Evening'. After the inevitable standing ovation, everyone was invited to join in for a rousing rendition of 'You’ll Never Walk Alone'. It was a truly magnificence evening.
