~~It never ceases to amaze me the talent these young people have when it comes to putting on a great show, and this evening was no different, the whole show was nothing short of brilliant and oozing with talent.
I would think most people who know anything about the theatre know Les Miserables and this production brought a number of new faces to the stage who I am sure will go far.
The leading character of this piece is of course Jean Val Jean and this was in the more than capable hands of William Batty, he was able to bring out the best both in his singing, which is very demanding, and also his acting, again very demanding and calls for the actor to age during the show. It is one thing to add make up to be able to age a person but it is nothing if the acting is not there also -  it does not mean a thing; well again in this William was superb as I have said in all aspects of the stage.
Of course you may have a great leading man but you still have to have other good actors on stage to make the show work and this is exactly what we had here, Jake Lomas was a superb Javert with just right amount of venom in his part to make it work and not going over the top which can sometimes happen.
The leading ladies of this show were in the more than capable hands of Lucie May Copper as Fantine who sang beautifully. I think there would have been many tearful eyes, I know mine were, when she sang I Dreamed a Dream, this was electric and Lucie not only sang it but acted it too to bring it to life. Ellie Jo Cooper played the part of Eponine, again showing off her talents to the full especially when she sang On My Own.
The third of the leading ladies Cosette was played by Phoebe Lloyd, again showing off her talents to the full to give a very professional performance.
Of the other leading men Harry Steele excelled as the young student Marius, Harry brought the best out of this part and gave his all to offer a great performance to the audience together with his student partner Jodan Moxon in the part of Enjolras. Both Jodan and Harry were able to bring their respective parts to life.
As in most shows there will be comedy and this was in the capable hands of Laura Holmes and Daniel Tinker as Madame and M Thenardier respectively, these two brought laughter to the show not only with their singing abilities but also with their acting and facial expressions producing many belly laughs in the audience.
There are two younger parts in this show, the parts of young Cossette which was performed very well by Isabella Woodcock, everyone fell in love with her as soon as she sang Castle on a Cloud, and in the part of Gavroche we had Keaton Woodcock, who again had the audience in the palm of his hands when he sang Little People and even more so when he got shot on the battlements, I would suspect again there were many tear soaked eyes.
Many congratulations to all involved with this show it was a real treat to sit and watch.
