Oh my god, oh my god you guys!!!! What I experienced from Take2 theatre school on Friday evening was nothing short of brilliance.
If I hadn't have heard it from the horse mouth, I would have never have believed that this was Lucie Cooper’s first attempt at directing. The show was excellent, and I would like to point out that experienced directors could learn a lot from this talented young lady. Lucie had some brilliant and original lighting ideas which added so much to this production. She also had a first class cast which she had obviously ‘whipped into shape’.
The story of Legally Blonde, tells the story of Elle Woods, who when dumped by her boyfriend Warner, follows him to Harvard Law School, where she soon discovers that actually, she is not the stereotypical dumb blonde everyone think she is.
In this production the role of Elle was played to perfection by Nicole Footitt. She lived and breathed this role, and delivered the message of always being true to yourself, with great style. Jodie Sidebottom excelled as beautician and Elle’s best friend Paulette, providing some of the best lines in the show with great comic timing. Her rendition of ‘Ireland’ was stunning. I must also congratulate Bailey Whitfield as Kyle, Paulette's UPS guy. I don’t think I will be able to look at Bailey in the same way again.
Abi Morris played exercise Queen, Brooke Wyndham, proving just how much stamina this young girl has with powerhouse vocals and a skipping routine.
For me however, the star of this show was Brandon Ward as Emmett Forrest. Brandon’s singing, acting and dancing was first class. From his first entrance to his last, he never his character or accent slip. He also proved what a fine singing voice he has. An exceptional individual performance.
The main characters where very well supported by Jessica Sanderson (Margot) Freya Stones ( Serena), Olivia Ellis (Pilar), Casey Heeley ( Warner) and Isabelle Yates (Vivienne)
The choreography for this show was brilliant a big well done must go to Charlotte McCamley.
The ensemble was full of energy and enthusiasm, that made me tired just watching them.
To finish, I must congratulate the stage crew in some of the slickest scene changes I have ever seen.
All of the performers in this show were aged between 9 and 18. The future of amateur theatre is in very good hands.
