Legally Blonde

It gave me great pleasure to cover for my colleague and see a show I have never seen before.  The Society must be really proud to find them-selves playinfg to full houses each evening, and that does not happen very often these days.

A fabulously fun award-winning musical adapted from the novel by Amanda Brown with music by Rolfe Kent.  It follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles snobbery and scandal in pursuit of her dreams as it takes you from Sorority houses to the Halls of Justice.

This was a first class production with strong individual performances with every chatacter giving 100% throughout.  Elle (Danielle Williams) a lady of great talent made the role her own, always dressed in pink, with fourteen musical numbers to perform and countless costume changes, all made extremely quickly.

Her boyfriend Warner, who dumped Elle for a more serious girlfriend, (Scott Armstrong) gave a well-defind portrayal.  Emmett ( Joe Medlock) the guy Elle finally fell for, gave a consummate performance.  Comedy abounded with Paulette a woman of the world, (Helen Woodhead) and her UPS delivery-man, especially when they performed their little Irsh dance.  Vivienne, Warners new girl friend, Elle's nasty, bitchy rival was strong on vocals and character.

The choreography was outstanding, especially the wonderful skipping routine in the opening of Act 11.  I must not forget to mention the two well-behaved dogs, the audience just loved them. 

The show zipped along at a great pace with excellent sets, beautiful costumes and good lighting. This production was packed with non-stop action, and the whole cast totally committed to delivering brilliant show high in energy and enthusiasm.

A superb evenings entertainment, congratulations to all involved both on and off stage.
