Legally Blonde is a musical based on the 2001 film starring Reese Witherspoon. It follows the story of Elle Woods a sorority girl who follows her boyfriend to Harvard Law, and even though the musical is fast paced and bouncy , it also deals with some darker traits such as stereotyping and sexual harassment. It really is a show I have liked since watching it in the West End many years ago.

Carys achieved a great energy in this production and I really liked many of the settings along with some clever choreography by Helen Stevens.

This show , given the storyline requires a young enthusiastic cast and Carys was very lucky that she achieved this with a lot of young talent joining some existing members on stage.

The show has a large cast and all performed their roles really well, I must however mention Ellie Morgan, Charlotte Rose, and Grace Taylor as Pilar Serena and Margot as well as Eryn, Jessica, Izzy, Rachel and Ellie who played the the other girls in Delta NU/ Greek Chorus, I loved your work together, well done.

Warner Huntington III was played by Daniel Stockton and he gave a good performance as the boyfriend who dumped Elle to go to Harvard. His new love interest at Harvard Vivienne Kensington was played by Emma Davies, I liked the way she played the stuck up , wealthy law student really well.

Professor Callaghan, the teacher/ Lawyer was played by Joe Morgan,he had some difficult scenes to play as the bigoted lecturer but handled them really well,I also liked his rendition of Blood in the water.

Emmett Forrest, the third year student who became an associate in Callaghan’s firm, was played by William Evans. He played the role really well from the shy boy who obviously has feelings for Elle to becoming a huge support for her showing empathy and standing up for her against Callaghan.

Abi Rice played Brooke Wyndham and gave a very strong performance as the defendant in the murder case who was being set up by her step daughter. Abi showed her versatility during Whipped into Shape, singing , dancing and skipping, along with the dancers, well done.

Paulette Buonofonte was played by Amy Ware and for me this was one of the standout performances of the night. Lovely vocals and good characterisation. Congratulations Amy on a very good performance.

The lead role of Elle Woods was taken by Millie Tanner, this is a really hard role to play and I was impressed by the way Millie undertook it. She showed her maturity when though no fault of hers ,she was beset by technical problems on Wednesday evening. I would like to commend Millie and the rest of the company on the way they handled this. Omigod Millie you certainly shone in this role.

I would like to thank Cockett once again for their hospitality, especially Claire for her welcome, and once again congratulate Carys, Jonathan and the rest of the creative team on a successful show.
