I had never seen Legally Blonde before so I was quite looking forward to seeing something new. It was big budget, with a wonderful set, a very enthusiastic cast who were excellent throughout and fabulous choreography. It had everything right. It was a very slick show that would not have looked out of place on a stage in the West End of London.
The principal roles were all outstanding and Sarah Bayliss as Elli was nothing short of magnificent. However, I think if you were to ask the many young ladies in the audience, it was the parcel delivery man Kyle that may have stolen the show with his dance moves.
My wife & I both thought that it was a fantastic show. However, I have to say that I felt slightly disappointed, because it was spoilt at times by poor sound balance. We were sat centre in the circle and from our position the orchestra was far too loud, lots of the ensemble singing was in audible and to be honest because there was very little spoken script I found a little difficult to follow the storyline in the first act. I think the lady sat in front of me summed it up when she said "It would have been a great show if I could have understood it".
I would have liked to have been able to see the show again later in the week, but other commitments prevent me from doing so. The show certainly had the wow factor, but in my opinion this was yet another example of a top class amateur theatre company who were let down by the paid professionals.
