This was a special stage adaptation of the well - known comedy 'Last of the Summer Wine' and so, unlike other plays based on a TV series, it avoided the numerous scenes that have to be dealt with to follow the story.
The play was set in Clegg's very spacious dining room where Foggy and Clegg are waiting to entertain Nora Batty and her niece Constance.
The three main characters Clegg (Graham Siddle), Foggy (Michael Wilkinson) and Compo (Terry Kelly) were well cast and they had obviously worked hard to appear as much like the TV characters as possible.
Foggy is hoping to win the affections of Constance (Gillian Myers) and impress her Aunt Nora (Liz Coggins). Liz played this part well and of course sported the signature wrinkly stockings and best hat.
The party falls apart with the unwelcome arrival of not only Compo but Foggy's rival Gifford (Richard Hunt). He is trying to capture the mysterious flasher (Lee Sharrat) who is roaming the neighbourhood.
All this added up to chaos and there were some well directed amusing moments and a wonderful drunken Gifford.
The set was well dressed with some good period furniture. The opening film sequence showing the trio walking round the town was an excellent way to set the scene for the rest of the performance. This was a lovely nostalgic step back in time-well done.
