I really enjoyed this production which is a sequel to Amanda Whittington’s other play Ladies’ Day, in which our four fish packers win a jackpot on a day out at the races. This play see’s the girls taking a well needed holiday to Australia.

The simple set works well with a small screen centre stage showing pictures and places that the girls visit along the way. The play is set over four weeks.

Peter Ansell once again has his excellent cast and having seen last year’s play this really helps with believing that you know all the characters, and are keen to find out how they have all be getting along.

Janet West (Pearl), Adele Buxton (Linda), Sally Whyte (Jan) and Steph Haywood (Shelley) all play their parts very well and during the play you find out how they have coped with the money and how it has changed their lives. One thing is certain they have all remained friends and there are some funny moments while the girls are on holiday, some of which test the friendships.

Nathan East and John West once again take on several roles that entwine with the girls and they do a great job with all the different characterisations and have good Australian accents. The great scene towards the end of the play sees the girls join in the LGBT parade in Sydney with Nathan & John colourfully costumed as Koala Bare and Bondi Bitch, drag queens all singing and dancing to ‘I am what I am’ from La Cage Aux Folles, this was very good. The costumes are very good also.

We all enjoyed this play, well done to one and all evolved. Thank you for a great night’s entertainment.
