Famous in the fifties this show with its wealth of infectious music and a fantastic story line still has great appeal and is very popular with companies today

Yes everyone knows who wrote the music and lyrics of Kiss Me Kate the musical genius Cole Porter. His incredible music made this show within a show written by Bella and Samuel Spewack an instant success

The main story revolves around a tryout version of the Taming of the Shrew.

Fred Graham the Director of the show, very well played by  Graham Bryant/ Petruchio who co stars with his firebrand ex wife Lilli Vanessi/Katherine (Andrea Pole). Their voices blended beautifully contrasting from Graham’s rich tones and the feisty spirited vocals of Andrea in a role she convincingly played extracting maximum effect with her I Hate Men -I believed her!! As we all know she thankfully changes her mind before the last scene and is effectively tamed!

Subtle component of this show is numerous opportunities for both experienced and budding thespians to take parts and all made the most of their roles, well done.

Excellent performances from Nick Thompson as Bill Calhoun and his charming girlfriend Lois Lane/Bianca a lovely debut from Rachel Parker.

Louise Miller playing the part of Sally excelled in this part

Good cameos Cedric Gibbons as Baptista and the plausible gangster duo of Tony Hardy and Brinley Morgan climaxing with the encore of Brush Up Your Shakespeare

Experienced Tony Rigby as General Harrison Howell was of a virtuoso status

Well rehearsed which is so important, and a cracking show given by Monmouth Music Theatre.

Nicely costumed, by ACE Costumiers of Tredegar, good set by Scenery Hire of Newport. A relative newcomer to the company Alastair Cameron, an exceptional Musical Director maintained great tempi throughout. It was his debut performance and he and his nine piece orchestra of musicians can be justly proud

Congratulations to Directors Graham and Jane Bryant, all the production team under the experienced eye of production organiser Lynda Foster, this wonderful cast deserve the highest praise.

You can all be very proud as this production was top class!
