Since the original movie came out I have always love the story of “Kinky Boots” and I have watched the film many times . Therefore I was eager to see the musical version of the story when the opportunity arose.  It was wonderful to be able to return once more to the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre, to attend this  BBLOC production

Before Covid19 closed down our wonderful hobby, BBLOC had got into the habit of producing  outstanding  professional standard shows and “Kinky Boots” was another one to add to the list.

BBLOC are very lucky to have some very talented individuals in their company, many who have worked, and some still do, as professional entertainers.  This obviously reflects in the high standard of performance that this company achieve.   The two leading roles, Charlie and Lola  were outstanding throughout , and they were given great support from the rest of the enthusiastic company, with many superb individual performances.

With excellent direction, a great sounding orchestra and superb choreography, the show flowed at a great pace. and kept the audience enthralled throughout

The show ended on a fabulous high with the full company all wearing red thigh length Kinky Boots in a super finale routine to close this amazing show.

There was a couple of occasions when sound technicians failed to get balance right and the orchestra was allowed  over power the ensemble singing ,which I always find disappointing given that the company have worked so hard over several months to bring this production to the theatre

Thankfully it did not spoil the show and  this production was another great achievement from Bournemouth’s premier theatre company
