This piece was just as the title suggested, A Magical Mystery Tour right from the words ‘Take Off’. There were 53 youngsters between the ages of 5 and 18 years of age performing. The Company consists of three age groups, Academy: 5 – 8 years, Juniors: 8 – 11 years and Seniors 12-18 years of age. All three groups were disciplined from the start, each person knew their task and what was expected of them. Costumes, hairstyles and footwear are always superb from this group and today was no exception.

There was excitement all around as the Company entered from the back of the auditorium and filled the stage. Immaculately dressed Stewards and Stewardesses ushered Company members on to the stage as Pilots Theo and Ben prepared for Take-Off. Two musical offerings by the Seniors – ‘Flying the Flag’ and ‘Feeling Good’ set us on our way. Juniors followed in the next section ‘First on Flight Film’ with two items from the popular ‘Matilda’, ‘When I Grow Up’ featuring Isabella Rodgers, Beaux Smith, Sophie Ehlke-West and Imogen Rowlands followed by ‘Revolting Children’ which I know the youngsters throw their hearts and souls into. Items were interspersed with introductions from the Stewards/Stewardesses. Reality TV Challenge Channel gave us a Courtroom flavour to ‘Sit Down You’re Rocking the Boat’ by the Seniors, and in the next section entitled ‘The Isle of the Lost’ the three groups joined for ‘Rotten to the Core’ culminating in a commendable solo ‘Look Inside’ from Alex Hennessey. Act 1 ended whilst we stopped for refuelling with a ‘Little Mix Medley’ and ‘Better When I’m Dancing’ from the Seniors with the whole cast enjoying a break after ‘Dimelo’. Fantastic costumes of black white and red filled the stage – very impressive.

There was a bit of rough weather at the beginning of the 2nd Act – not literally I may add, with ‘Sailor Song’ and ‘Michael Jackson Medley’ from the Seniors and Juniors followed by an excellent solo ‘I Know Where I’ve Been’, from Llinos Protheroe ‘. Led by Elan Morgan, Academy girls and Juniors treated us to a trip to Spain with ‘Veo Veo’ followed by the wonderful ‘Frug’ and ‘Big Spender’ from Senior Girls. After our next film showing, Moana, our final destination was in sight – Cymru, and welcoming us was our host Mr Price. A galaxy of Welsh Music including a brilliant solo from Ella Thomas ‘ Where Did the Rock Go’ preceded the Junior choir with a rousing ‘Siopa’, ‘Hymns & Arias’ ‘Sospan Bach’ and an unforgettable’ Canol Lan’ Medley from the Senior Show Choir. I would have liked to mention everyone by name as everyone gave of their best throughout the whole evening.

Our safe landing and our feet firmly on the ground culminated in a standing ovation for the group for an evening of sheer delight. I really don’t know why I needed to go on holiday the next day as I had already been whisked off to distant shores and waited on, entertained, and cossetted by the Company, and offer them all my congratulations for a great evening. Thank you very much.
