Nottingham Operatic Society. Theatre Royal, Nottingham. 30th October
to 3rd November 2018 . "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat."
Congratulations to Nottingham Operatic Society for being one of the first adult companies to gain the rights to perform "Joseph"....... it was well worth the wait! This production was full of life from the Overture to the Megamix. The company was led by a terrific "Joseph" - Zak Charlesworth (Wednesday matinee) - and Kate Williams as the Narrator (Wednesday matinee). WOW what singing voices they both had - the music could have been written for them. And what about Pharaoh/Elvis played by Dan Armstrong -just brilliant in his gold lame suit! It is almost impossible to single out any individuals with so many excellent performances in such a company show but suffice to say it was obvious that a tremendous amount of work by everyone had been put into this production. The large scale production numbers were superb - both vocally and dancewise. And then there were the children - I saw the White Team - and it was obvious how much they enjoyed themselves throughout! The Brothers were all great - each creating their own character but just one stood out for me - congratulations to Ray McLeod (Judah) in that super calypso number! My CONGRATULATIONS to EVERYONE involved in this production - Dave Partridge your Director and Choreographer and Morven Harrison Musical Director must be so proud of you all.
