This 2022 adaptation provided a slightly different take on the well-known Robert Louis Stevenson novel, focussing more on the detective element leading to the unmasking of Jekyll and the extent to which a male establishment would refuse to acknowledge the possibility of transgression by one of their own. The key to the success of this production was in many ways the degree of underplaying involved, avoiding the danger of over-dramatic gothic excess. The play highlighted the degree to which privilege protects even today.
