JACK AND THE BEANSTALK

This was a pantomime that contained all the essential ingredients of pantomime but with a few different twists to the normal story such as a tin of beans instead of a bag and two extra baddie characters and a goose as well as a cow! The strong cast headed by Jack (Amanda Eyre) and Princess Primrose (Melissa Harper) both sang and acted with great style and confidence. Piccalilli (Jenny Alexander) and Rancid (Jackie Braddock) two evil type giant lackeys made a lovely contrast to the very charming Fairy Sugardust (Sharon Hill). Dame Dotty Simple (Nigel Dixon) as usual proved that he has few equals for this kind of role. King Nubert (Alan Sykes) and Henrietta (Olivia Griffin) both enhanced this production as did Hannah the Harpist (Amelia Whittaker), Snatchet (Chris Hall) and Scarper (Lisa Cockroft). Silly Simon (Gareth Jones) was outstanding he brought much humour to the show and never stopped working on the part. The mandatory cow and the rather unusual goose part were both well played. Some excellent choreographed dance routines along with lovely bright costumes and super music selections and well organised sound and lighting all gave us a fine production.
