A brilliant technical lighting display opened this fabulous performance of APC’s latest pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk, eagerly anticipated by all the packed audience in the Borough Theatre Abergavenny. An energised Chorus rocketed on to the stage with great enthusiasm, with their well choreographed fantastic routines and upbeat numbers Then Ken Jones as Dame Trott once again showed his skill as a Dame. Full of life and fun and in great voice, we all love his warmth and his great interaction with Joe Pugh an excellent Jack who shone in this part charming the children in the audience who all reacted waving their light sticks, they loved him!
A perfect contrast was Jill, played by Emma Davies, taking the stage by storm her amazing timing, diction and crisply choregraphed moves were a delight, making a very good duo with Jack.
Peter Holder superb as Sir Stinky Pinky gave us a real baddie to hiss at and Arthur Sixpence, Tristan Williams and Arthur Dozen, Jane Gilbert they were super and brought us some hilarious comedy. Hermione Williams as Cat was a feline super star, and a lovely Daisy the Cow. Costumes throughout were brilliant designs, enhancing every scene well done costume team.
Yes I would have liked to see the beanstalk go all the way up in to the sky and actually see the Giant, who had a great voice by Jon Vaughan, it is part of the excitement in this pantomime, even his head or an arm poking out of the wings would have been exciting!! It was a fabulous night of fun and an excellent production and so enjoyable. Well done, and congratulations Director and MD Jaci Brickley Clark and all the production team Thank you and long may you bring us this first class pantomime to Abergavenny !
