This was a good family friendly pantomime with just the right amount of audience participation. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all in the audience, especially the children. I have said this before; this director has a real knack of making the most of everyone's talents and strengths. The two solos from the young girls in the chorus were very well sung and the casting of Queen Hyacinth was inspirational and very funny. All characters were appropriately cast and gave enjoyable performances and made good use of the small space available to them. Jack gave us a very commanding performance and was well supported by Princess Primrose. Fairy Stardust and Piccalli, the witch, sparked off each other and gave us an exciting opening to the show. They say you can judge a pantomime baddy by the amount of hissing and booing they get. Rancid the Rat certainly had a lot of well deserved audience reaction. The comedy was well delivered by Snatchet and Scarper and Dame Dotty Dimple was a hilarious well loved Dame. The costumes were colourful, particulary the final scene and the chorus sang enthusiastically. The beanstalk was very effective and worked well and the scenery enhanced the stage without taking up too much room. Well done all, an enjoyable afternoon's entertainment. Lynne Caygill
