The magical characters set the scene, sparkly fairies at a coronation that went slightly wrong when the Demon flounced in with much sass to steal the crown. The Demon played by a very self-assured young lady commanded the stage and moved with style and had the feel of a real rock chick. With the crown lost the fairies needed to go to the human world for help, so, on to meeting the villagers who could help solve the problem. The Villagers sang and moved nicely but a few more smiles would truly bring the stage alive. Jack and Jill were nicely drawn and both sang beautifully and portrayed sweet and devoted love, very cute! Susie Shoelace the Dame flounced nicely and was well matched with Bill, but comic timing needs a little speed and sadly some gags fell flat due to timing. Now Humpty and Dumpty on the other hand had it all, perfect comic timing, cheek and a great rapport, a real highlight of the evening. Scenery as is usually case with this company was colourful and looked just like the pages of a story book, totally in keeping and fun. Costumes were bold and flattering and make-up complimented each character’s personality. Music was an interesting eclectic mix and interesting choices had been made here but it was all played live with vigour and everyone vocally gave good attack even if some struggled a tad. A fun packed evening which the village supported with gusto….well done everyone.
