It Could Be Any One of Us by Alan Ayckbourn is a great murder mystery play set in the sitting room of the Chalke family home during the mid 1980's.

The set is great, with lots of attention to detail, complete with a piano. Sound & effects, lighting and costumes are also very good.

The play starts with Mortimer Chalke a composer, played by Steve Russell, playing the piano with his family listening to him. He sees himself as the boss of the family and is quite happy to always make his point known.

Jocelyn Polegate, his sister, is a writer, nicely played by Christine Hughes along with Brinton Chalke his brother played by Andrew Chappell. They all work really well together and their different characters come over very well. As children their mother had encouraged them all to take up the arts and although they'd had some success it wasn't that great.

Amy Polegate is Jocelyn's daughter played by Steffi Edwards, and Norris Honeywell is a failed detective and Jocelyn's partner, played by Dave Lowen, he comes home in the rain storm towards the end of Mortimer's playing creating lots of noise much to Mortimer's annoyance.

Mortimer tells the family that he is changing his will and leaving everything to his first pupil Wendy, and he has asked her to come to the house to go through everything.

Wendy Windwood is a great character nicely played by Julie Lax. She arrives at the house and is overwhelmed by Mortimer's idea of leaving her the house and money. This is where things start to go wrong.

Mortimer ends up being killed, there are lots of noises, stuff happening, near misses, screams, dark shadows outside etc and nobody trusts anyone. So who killed him? Norris takes it on himself to try and solve the crime.

Danielle Morris has worked hard with this great play and it's very well cast. Great evenings entertainment as the audience have to try and work out who did it. Well done everyone.
