Will Humpty Dumpty fall off the wall? Will the Kings men be able to put him back together again? More to the point, will Miss Muffet trick him into giving up the deeds to the farm?

A super panto by a talented young group.

The show opened with a vibrant song and dance accompanied by live music played by the groups own pianist, Mrs Eunice Parry. Throughout the production, the audience were introduced to the nursery rhyme characters, the chorus, and the dancers. Humpty Dumpty played by Aluna Bach, set the scene beautifully with her clear introduction. Widow Welly (Casey Baillie-Young) gave an excellent performance working very well with her group of children and engaging with the audience. Jack and Jill (Lawrence Blackman and Catrin Hughes) made a super pairing and I particularly enjoyed their ‘Hole in My Bucket’ song. Boy Blue (Jonny Diboli) played his part with flair. While Bo Peep (Lily Redpath) gave us a terrific performance with great attitude and facial expressions. Both had some funny lines which they delivered well. The Duke of York (Cara Richardson) and Captain of the Guard (Alys Hughes) gave strong, entertaining performances with good comic timing. Emily Williams gave a fabulous performance as Miss Muffet. She did a super job of bossing around Georgie Porgie (Lola Gladstone) and Wee Willie Winkie (Heather Blackman) while engaging with the audience, encouraging them to interact with the action. Well done, Emily. Lola and Heather displayed good comic timing and gave the audience lots of laughs. Congratulations to Taylor Hart as the spider, very scary! Amelia Bowen-Evans portrayed a kind Mary and Eswen Rees-Jones made a super, cute, little lamb with great facial expressions when she saw the wolf. Jasmine Buyang-Ali portrayed a very funny Queen of Hearts and a very scary wolf, well done Jasmine on your ability to change between two such different characters. Kitty Williams had lovely diction as Old King Cole and Idris Williams, the palace cat, played his part beautifully. Every character brought something different to the story. The older cast members supported the younger members superbly. The diction of the cast was particularly good with everyone speaking clearly and demonstrating good projection. The characters were supported very well by the rest of the chorus.

The acting throughout was good. Many of the characters were aware of their positioning on stage and played well to the audience. With only a few prompts, the cast performed their script well.

The dancers performed beautifully and slotted into their acting roles confidently. Well done to you all. I would like to congratulate the choreographer on some lovely routines.

The group worked hard with this substantial script and produced an exceptionally good pantomime. The audience were very appreciative, and a fun evening was had by all who attended.

Congratulations to the director Marilla Pugh on a super production. It is wonderful to witness talented young people, and I look forward to seeing what these young actors achieve in the future.

Thank you Children of Benllech Pantomime Group for a great evening. I can’t wait to see what you do next.
