The production tells the story of The Ugly Ducking and his adventures away from his pond.

Kyle Bellamy’s portrayal of the central character (Ugly) was excellent from the moment he hatched, through all the awkwardness of growing up. Lucy Miles as Ida was the perfect mother duck; she sang well and acted with emotion and convinced us of her love for her ‘over sized’ ducking ‘Ugly’. Morgan Orpin gave a good performance as Drake making the most of some very amusing lines.

Bella Horsell as Maureen gave a lovely performance as the village busy body and friend to Ida. The duet “Joy Of Motherhood” was delivered well. Jessica Blackley as The Cat, the villain of the piece, felinely conveyed in action and song. Both Ellora Goodwin as Dot and Rhos Phyfer as Greylag gave strong performance and complimented each others characters.

All on stage clearly were enthusiastic and relished the opportunity to entertain a most appreciative audience.

The production had some really good touches and all this is down to Directors Ceri Goodwin and Samantha Williams. The costumes were good with some lovely quirky elements adding suitable characteristics to each of the animals and birds. Musical Direction was well executed by David Winterbottom. Lighting was suitable, ably supplied by Lightsource.

Congratulation Billboard Juniors.
