Heroes & Villains

This was the first production from the newly named Spotlight Stars and what stars they were! 

We had more than 2 hours of song and dance, including a few sketches, performed to backing tracks by a young cast of varying ages and abilities and it would not be fair to single anyone out as all the performers gave their all and appeared to enjoy every minute.  However, I must say that the excerpt from Matilda the Musical was very good and I would have liked more of this style of selection.  The senior girls also gave us a lovely routine to Love Never Dies.

The costumes were well thought out and I particularly liked the black and white Pierrot outfits which were very effective – and the cast had several pretty quick changes as well.

I don’t normally mention technical hitches but I will here because of the way those on stage handled the situation when, mid-number, the music cut out.  The cast just carried on with their routine – brilliant!

The show was a little on the long side but the enthusiasm of the cast meant that there was never a dull moment and it was an enjoyable way to spend a cold Saturday afternoon.
