Hangmen (written by Martin McDonagh famous for his screen play "Banshees of Innisherin") is a black comedy about the second best hangman in England -Harry Wade - and his life after the abolition of hanging in the mid 1960s. Wade is now a pub-landlord and the action takes place inside this pub. With the regulars happily exchanging humorous stories and comic banter a stranger enters the pub and brings with him an air of foreboding. This slick, strangly funny play had moments of almost slapstick comedy - well performed with perfect timing and some brilliant character studies were in evidence.
