Based on the 1988 film of the same name “Hairspray” is a rather clever mix of outsiders, civil unrest and discrimination wrapped up with a big glossy, showbiz bow. The show was wonderfully and most energetically delivered by an enthusiastic ensemble and a talented cast of principals. As one of the first amateur companies to perform “Hairspray” the bar has been set predictably high with this very enjoyable production.
