GUYS AND DOLLS

Colstars gave us high impact and precision in this excellent production of the famous musical Guys and Dolls at The Coliseum Theatre in June

A cast and ensemble well directed and choreographed with appropriate and skilful moves by choreographer Bethan John set the show on track from the important first minute.

Nothing like watching well paced performances and crisp entries and exits throughout this production and especially in Fugue for Tinhorns These cool, on the move  gangsters straight from New York were special, totally in character, relaxed and a fabulous Luck Be A Lady with their own high roller Sky Masterson ready for that crap game! Nicely Nicely Johnson, Keiran Pryor brought Sit Down You’re Rockin’The Boat alive!

Nathan Detroit, Adrian Thomas lived the man, so slick he really made it happen every second on stage and with excellent Jennifer Cole as a lively Miss Adelaide with a convincing cold, they were a great rapport duo their warm affection real.

Zoe Phillips, Sarah Brown a crystal clear voice and a perfect match for the suave Sky Masterson a fine performance by Ryan Morgan also with a great voice. The Mission Band gave some nice cameos and we heard the rich golden voice of Derek Williams as Arvide Abernathy with More I Cannot Wish You, a touching rendition and a sensitive well acted role, well supported by Cath Davies as General Cartwright.

Lt Brannigan, Tom Cadwallader was reminiscent of Columbo, with his spot on timing.

Expert MD Michael Jones always sympathetic to the score, and his orchestra excelled.

Superb costumes from ACE, good set, sound backstage and artistic lighting design all contributed.

Colstars can be proud of this very successful production.
