Guys and Dolls has to be one of the best shows ever written. With a fabulous score which includes classics such as 'Luck Be A Lady', 'Adelaide's Lament' and the crowd pleaser 'Sit Down, You're Rocking The Boat'
This production, which featured a cast of mostly under 19 year olds, was first class. It amazes me just how much young talent we have in our region.
Playing the roles of Sarah Brown and Sky Masterson were Isabelle Yates and Marcus Roebuck. These two young performers had so much chemistry, yeah chemistry, and have the most beautiful voices which really did Frank Loesser's score justice. I can see these two as a future Billy Bigelow and Julie Jordan in 'Carousel'
The role of Miss Adelaide was played to absolute perfection by Rebecca Hall. Rebecca managed to keep the squeaky voice up throughout the production, and had excellent stage presence, which she commanded every time she appeared.
I can't let this review finish without mentioning Louis Wilkinson as Nicely Nicely Johnson. He was perfect in this role. He has natural comedy timing with a great voice. Wonderful portrayal Louis.
All principals had good New York accents which, they didn't let drop. Maybe they could teach some adults how to keep the Yorkshire out of New York.
Good costumes, good direction and good choreography, made this an excellent night of entertainment.
