The standing ovation afforded to this powerful realisation of Green Day’s landmark punk rock album is as much a testament to appreciation of the source material as its hugely energetic interpretation by the cast. A programme description of the piece as a “90 minute music video” very much sums up the overall impression. Images and sounds remain in the mind rather than a fully formed narrative.
