The opening started well with strong vocals from Sandy (Hannah Kennedy) and Danny (Jack Hodgson) setting the tone of what was to come. We were then introduced to Rizzo (Abi Williams), Kenicke (Josh Wilsdon), Frenchy (Sarah Powell), Sonny (Al Powell), Marty (Sophie Fidler), Doody (Dylan Crank) Jan (Hayley Shay), Roger (Al Bromilow), Patty (Nikola Sayles) and Eugene (Patrick James). What a team. All of these characters worked well together and gave great performances and were supported by Miss Lynch (Lyn Easton), Vince Fontaine (Russell Horsfall), Cha Cha (Sam Scott), Teen Angel (Andy Hodson) and Blanche (Karen Powell) The vocals were good all round and I don’t think there is a bad song in the show but I particularly enjoyed ‘Mooning’ sung by Roger and ‘There Are Worse Things I Could Do’ sung by Rizzo with great feeling.
The sets were simple but looked good and made the scene changes slick and easy with the use of the cast. The show zipped along with some fantastic choreography and the whole company displayed great energy. I was exhausted just watching. This was a very professional production from beginning to end and I congratulate the production team of Director Amy Donald, Musical Director Ian Gude and Choreographer Stephen Snaith assisted by Beth Booth.
Thank you DSP for a wonderful evening.
