Warmly welcomed by the front of house I was ushered to my seat looking forward to a good evening. The house was all but full and buzzing, a great sight to see. The Stage in front of me and the band in full view, I knew I was in for a good night. It did not dissapoint .
This was a good show, the pace didn’t seem to lag, which can often be the case with some well known musicals. The band were excellent and made a good noise which really added to the principals and chorus, all of which were clear, well drilled and full of enthusiasm. This was quite evident, and came over well to the paying public.
The Principals, Stuart Frank as Danny and Grace Campbell as Sandy worked well together and against each other and were very well backed up by the T Birds and Pink Ladies. Mention here though to Sean Ridley as Doody and Hannah Edwins as Jan their confidence and timing was excellent
A well used set, great lighting and very good sound added well to the show and there was never at any stage a point where words were lost or incoherant. Great staging and costumes, really added to the evening, 1950s style really evident.
My only criticism is more aimed at the Theatre, rather than the cast and crew, who dealt admirably with a group of rowdy ladies in the front row (I believe they had friends and family in the cast). Their (seemingly) drunken behaviour and calling out was, I’m sorry to say, a hindrance to a really enjoyable evening. (I mentioned this at the presentation after). Shame really
I have been coming to FMS Shows for a few years now, another triumph. Well done all I had a really good night.
