What a joy to be back at the Dribble Tree. I was excited to see the latest production and enjoyed every moment.

The strong cast filled the stage with believable performances. Susan a recent divorcee with a teenage daughter played with compassion and understanding by Audrey Docherty. Her fellow worker Frazer (Andy Gilbride) was the epitome of an effeminate man who was grieving for his dead mother. Andy showed excellent characterisation and comic timing. His flounces through to the stockroom had everyone laughing. Also in the charity shop we had the manager Marjory, acted superbly by Nikki Doig, she was the typical middle class officious snob, always interfering and getting it wrong.

The main customers always in the shop were firstly Scouse Doris (Cath Eddie) a great character role brought to life perfectly with her zany costume and antics with the stock. In complete contrast came David, a quiet effective man grieving but coping. Steering his way with confidence through the many misunderstandings and a lost tie and acted with charm by Sam Ruddell. Lastly Tony the ex-husband was a character you wanted to hate but came over as misunderstood and sympathetic, a difficult role to get right so well done George Docherty.

This play also gave us a number of supporting characters. David Ross playing a scruffy man and a delivery man. Dick Gibson as Susan’s confused father. Kim Brymer as the new girlfriend Natalie and Helena David’s daughter in law. Finally the two police officers Grant Wilson and Susan Murphy. Well done all you added the icing on this cake of delight.

I loved the set it was so effective and the change of props in each scene made the shop come alive. The whole production was stylish, enhanced by great lighting, sound and costumes. Thank you again for your hospitality and I am already looking forward to my next visit.
