Ghost The Musical, with Book & Lyrics by Bruce Joel Rubin & Music & Lyrics by Dave Stewart & Glen Ballard, is based on the Paramount Pictures Film of love, loss and the supernatural starring Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore & Whoopi Goldberg.

Director Tamsin Barnes has a great cast for this show, there are some great moments, and you can tell everyone is fully committed to their characters. The set is great, simple details and good lighting make the supernatural moments very impressive. There are also some great stage effects with poltergeist action and clever, quick character to ghost moments. Matt Timmins has a great 9-piece band which made a good sound. There are some great musical numbers in this show, especially Unchained Melody.

The story is about Sam Wheat & girlfriend Molly Jensen whose world is shattered by Sam’s untimely murder. Sam is excellently played by Tom Andrews, he gave a stunning performance with great vocals, and really emotional facial expressions throughout, especially when he realised he was stuck between worlds. Molly, played by Joanna Bower, was equally good, her vocals and songs ranged from happy to sad and showed a real vulnerability of different emotions of love & grief. They had a great chemistry together.

Sam finds Oda Mae Brown a psychic and tries to convince her to help him protect Molly and bring his killer to justice. Lucie Evans was made for this part, she has a great sense of humour, good comedy timing, and it was funny when she first heard Sam's voice in her so-called seance, when no-one else could. There are great lines between them both. Another funny part was when they went to the bank. Tom Buxton, as Carl Bruner, was great as Sam's 'best' friend, who had got himself mixed up in a world of lies and deceit and owing money. Sam had a book of account numbers that Carl needed for his money crime so he got Willie Lopez, played by David Kehoe, to mug Sam & Molly for it but it went wrong which led to Sam's death.

Other good characters were the hospital ghost played by Richard McPherson and Katie Halliday as Subway Ghost. All the ensemble had their own characters to play and all the choreography was well rehearsed.

A great night was had by all. Well done!
