As always with Chesil Theatre I was given a very warm welcome and took my seats. Chesil Theatre group owns its own theatre which is a small 70 seat converted medieval church. Five Stories from 15 Heroines are five monologues from five characters inspired by the Roman Poet Ovid. The set was a "classic" set, all in white with classic columns and seating and all the set movement was done by the cast, all done with confidence and speed, no down time, the show moved with great pace. The stage was very well lit, nothing missed. The five principles Jen Hale and Ariadne, Eleanor Marsden as Leodamia, Christina Pye as Phyllis, Emily Monsell-Holden as Hypermestra and Melissa Weeks all played their monologues with real confidence, humour when needed and emotion, believable, engaged and heartfelt. Very very impressive performances across the board. The diction was superb here also, all words delivered with great self assurance and any dropped words, and given that each monologue was upward of fifteen minutes each, remarkabkle. Well done Chesil and very well done ladies, Bravo.
