First Things First a comedy written by Derek Benfield and directed by Denise Cleaver, combining impossible situations which culminate into a series of hilarious confusions. Sara (Cora Graham) the wife of 6 months is suspicious of her husband Pete (Terry Gardiner) who wants her to go to a party leaving him at home. In order to stay at home and find out what happens, Sara pretends to have a sprained ankle and tells Pete she will be staying at home. He says he has his friend George (Peter Jewell) coming to discuss a private matter with him. Sara`s domineering mother Margot (Sue Gower) wants to know why her daughter is not going to the party and bandages her daughters foot. George arrives and after Pete`s wife and mother in law go upstairs George tells Pete his first wife Jessica (Trisha Haley) did not die on a mountain fall in Tibet but is alive and wants to see her husband.. Pandemonium is let loose; the cast are attempting to explain the situation when Jessica appears. To make matters worse Alan (Peter Samuel) a friend of Jessica arrives on the scene and wants her to go back to France and marry him.
In the end all is well after a lot of explanations and the play comes to a satisfactory conclusion.
A brilliant set designed by Brian Goodman, Stage Managed by Graham Lonsdale assisted by Brian Goodman. Lighting and Sound by Rowan Lonsdale, Wardrobe by Vivian Goodman and Hair, Wigs and makeup Mags Williams.
A good performance by all the actors much enjoyed by the packed audience.
