This was indeed a most enjoyable production with very strong casting in all the main principal roles. Mike Porter as Tevye led the way with a fine acting and singing performance trying to keep up the old traditions he so cherishes and he was complimented by his wife Golde (Valerie Green) who sang well and gave a most suitable crusty performance as the Jewish Mama. The three oldest daughters Laura Siddall (Tzeitel), Hayley Harris (Hodel) and OIivia Orr (Chava) all sang and danced with superb style and confidence, especially in the Matchmaker number and the two younger ones Eleanor Birch (Shprintze) and Bethany Emmett (Bielke) were equally confident. The three suitors Chris Speight (Motel) Matthew Finnemore (Fyedka) and John Carter (Perchik) all gave excellent backing to the daughters. I did enjoy Motels rendition on Miracle of Miracles. Keith Speight (Lazar Wolf) displayed the right amount of aggression as the jilted suitor. The set was outstanding with lots of room for the wonderful choreography by Lorraine Harrison and two side stage sets for the bedroom scene and Motel's Tailors shop. The back up crews of costumes lighting and sound and a most sensitive orchestra did much to enhance this top class show.
