Oh what a triumph Oh what a show. New Director Steve Elias brought the best out of this extremely talented young company.Again bringing forward some new faces to the leading roles, whilst drawing on the strengths of the more established members of the group.

This was a first rate production. The principals were excellent with this sometimes difficult score. Henry Whittaker gave a good charecterisation of the bewildered Juan Peron, totally overshadowed by his mistress/wife Eva.Aaron Price Lewis gave an engaging and alluring performance as the tango singer Magaldi and Zara Colley sang and acted the role of Peron`s ousted mistress perfectly.

The major principals,Aled Owen as the narrator Che. This is a huge part for any one. He sang and acted perfectly, giving the right shade and light to the performance. What an inspired piece of casting, the part of Eva was shared, the early years portrayed by Safara-Lily Halpin Jones and the later stages of her life by Zoe-Miriam Way, both sang well and acted all the songs in such a way that Eva`s manipulative nature came clearly across. The principals were splendidly supported by a strong disciplined company. All the singing and dancing ensembley pieces worked very well.. Music direction was faultless, bringing the necessary light and shade. The set was well designed, and totally suitable. The costumes were very colourful and were in keeping with the production. The lighting and effects all worked excellently and assuisted in creating a moving and powerful atmosphere.

In short a truly memorable production. Well done Carmarthen Youth. You certainly maintained the very hfgh standard we are accustomed to with this very fine production.
