When Splinters announced that "Eurobeat" was their next show, there were quite a few amdrams in Sheffield who were rather sceptical! Well if they decided to go and see the production I'm sure they would have enjoyed every minute. As this was a Sheffield amateur premier not many in the audience would know what to expect.
As they got to their seats there was a small flag for one of the ten competing countries to which they were assigned. Congratulations to the Sarajevo locals Boyka (Laura) and Sergei (Gareth) who were the hosts of the show. In the first Act the 10 countries, (Italy, Iceland, Poland. United Kingdom, Hungary, Russia, Ireland, Sweden, Germany and Greece) presented their song and you cheered on your country but you could not vote for them!! Act 2 brought a host country spectacular, celebrating turnips! Then the genuine live voting (by text, paper and pencil) started, visiting each county by video link and watching the votes accumulate. This could mean a different winner on each night! The songs, choreography and lighting were eerily apt for each song/country. Congratulations on being brave enough to try something different and so pleased to see that 2013 brings another newly released musical "Happy Days".
