Richard Everett`s bitter-sweet play, premiered at the Chichester Festival in 2006, had many positive reviews and at one time, Penelope Keith took the leading role of a vicar`s wife coming to terms with the death of her husband and the added loss of her home. This `grey` comedy explores morals, ethics, religion and the lack of communication impacting on relationships.
A small and able cast offered some thought-provoking entertainment and a good night out. Heavily reliant on dialogue, the actors offered convincing and solid performance without the need for a prompt. The play was well-cast and the set was amazing. It was obvious that the script was well understood by the actors, leaving the Director to be able to direct rather than tell the actors how to act. The lighting and sound effects worked and it was a very pleasurable evening.
