Elf The Musical JR

A wonderful evening's entertainment from S'MAJIC the youth section of Mytholmrody St. Michaels' Amateurs, with the fifty children appearing on stage tonight you could see by their happy smiling faces how much fun they were having and how much enjoyment they were getting from performing in the production.

Elf The Musical JR is based on the 2003 film of the same name starring Will Ferrell, with score by Matthew Skylar and Chad Beguelin and adapted by Thomas Meechin.

Buddy working hard along-side all Sants's other elves, was raised from a child in Santa's workshop at the North Pole, however Buddy discovers he is neither Santa's son or an Elf.  Undaunted he sets out in the world to find his father Walter Hobbs.  The story drags Santa Claus into the 21st Century with iPads etc.

Buddy, (Tom Davies aged 14) bounced onto the stage absolutely full of life, he really lived the part, with facial expressions and superb singing.  I was particulary impressed with his brother Michael, (Emma Davies) who sang and acted the role perfectly.  Walter and Emily Buddy's mother and father, (Isaac Hughes-Dennis) Beth Pennington were played with great understanding.  Jovie, (Katie Kemp-Riley) was a perfect foil for Buddy and excelled in her singing.  All other principals worked extremely hard vocally and in character.  I wish I could mention every child but it is just not possible, but each and everyone performed admirably.  To cover the scene changes the smallest of the little elves kept popping on and doing little things to entertain the audience. Lovely scenes especially the snowy christmas video on the screen. The costumes were delightful so much colour and lots of Christmassy jumpers etc. in the finale which was delivered with great enthusiam.

My sincere congratulations to everyone involved in this producxtion, the production team, the backstage team and os course the children who performed brilliantly.
