Edge of darkness by Brian Clemens is set around a husband and wife who find their long lost daughter years later after she disappeared, but after experiencing some sort of trauma has lost her memory. Director Frank Holden has an excellent cast for this production. The set is very good being the lounge of the house. Lighting and sound are also good.
Bob Rankin plays Max Cranwell along with Veronica Ryder as his wife Laura Cranwell, they work very well together, starting out as the pleased parents having found there long lost daughter then as the play goes on start to get more creepier and you realise their motives.
Clare IāAnson is believable as Emma the daughter who you really feel for as she starts to settle back into family life, not remembering much but constantly being reminded by her parents. But she seems to know some Russian phrases, hates knives and the sound of bells and dislikes a portrait.
Carole Allen plays Penny the housekeeper and Chris Stowe is Hardy the new handyman who seems to want to know everything that goes on in the house, and asks lots of questions about the family.
Everything seems to be going well until the arrival of Livago played by Nick Clarke, who tells the Cranwells, that Emma is in fact his wife and not their daughter. He has to be silenced, and Max has the idea just how to do this. There are lots of twists and turns as the story unfolds.
Well done everyone for a very entertaining evening.
