This talented company know the power of anticipation, and the stage was set and characters
were already setting the scene as the audience went to their seats creating suspense and interest.
Sister Augusta, Julie Wyatt and Sister Philomena, Mandy Phillips worked so well together with
excellent comedy interaction. Taking place in the convent of the Sisters of Perpetual Sewing being
secretly investigated by two reporters sent by the Vatican who suspect that alcohol was being
produced at the convent and there was threat of closure. Well yes it was, and it had been happening
for years, medicinal of course!!
This swift moving play was full of intrigue and swift disguise, we wondered what would happen
next!
Mother Superior, Jo Bayton with her bell gave a very good sound performance and Reporter Paul
Billings a new member of EVODS as Blaine Jones was certainly one to watch as he metamorphacised
into so many characters and voices. He gave a brilliant interpretation of each character, absolutely
hilarious!! Very ably supported by the talented Sadie Jones as Reporter Sally Andrews.
Then we had Alex McIntosh as George O Donnolly the Gardener, perfect timing and a good
characterisation well played.
Sister Mary Catherine, Sian Edwards giving her all to this part, her facial expressions priceless.
Finally the master on stage Mike Fleming, who makes it all look effortless as an outstanding Father
Chenile.
This was a fascinating play full of surprise revelations, so well done by everyone on stage and every
aspect of the comedy was brought out so well, the night flew by, which is the certain reaction when
everyone is so involved and is enjoying what they see.
.
