This was a delightful and uplifting performance from a  group whose ages ranged from six to fifteen. The story is well known with its message 'Be Kind To Animals' These youngsters are so talented, nothing seemed to phase them, their confidence was unparalleled, the singing and dancing was faultless. Each cast member who was part of the animal kingdom used glove puppets to great effect and were in precise sync with the music at all times most particularly the Push Me Pull  You.

Dr Dolittle himself takes pride of place and Josh Colman is a performer to watch, oozing confidence  with a singing and acting ability to match. He was ably supported  by his friends and animals especially Polynesia, a lovely performance by Amelia Green. Malta Gehrmann was a belligerent General Bellows and Joseph Hewitt as Albert Blossom sang and danced “I’ve Never Seen Anything Like It”, with great enthusiasm and was a joy to watch. The Chorus which numbered twenty were rehearsed to perfection and were not troubled by first night nerves and for some of them I imagine were performing in public for the first time.

The set and lighting by Andy Martin was excellent and the cloth flown in at the interval kept many small people entertained following the giant sea snail. The giant snail and moth towards the end were excellent with the snail blowing bubbles. The sound was well in keeping for small voices and the costumes were lovely. My thanks to all concerned for such an enchanting evening and may I add for the most regimented Finale Bow that any Sgt Major would have been proud of.
