Halifax Light Opera Juniors performed this Disney Aladdin JR wonderfully, from the 1992 Academy Award winning film and the 2014 Broadway show, this junior version is based on the book by Chad Beguelin with music by Alan Menken.  The lyrics are by Howard Ashman. Tim Rice and Chad Beguelin.

Aladdin and his friends are down on their luck until he discovers the magic lamp and the Genie who grants him three wishes, he embarks on an adventure that will test his moral character and it opens up 'A Whole New World' to these young performers.

Halifax Light Opera Juniors had their audience spellbound from the very begining of their production right through to the end.  The Genie. (Ethan Roswell) burst on to the stage in Arabah and delivered a superb performance.  Along came Aladdin, (Joseph Hinchcliffe) and his penniless friends, Babak, Omar and Kassim, (Isabel Lotte, Lauren Wilson-Radcliffe, Grace Fawcett) each one showed excellent casting and all worked hard on their performances.  Jasmine, (Olivia Judge) and her friends, Isa, Manal and Rajah, (Caitlin Davison-Quinn, Charley Wright, Emily Halligan) all gave convincing performances.    Strong characterisations from the evil Jafar, (Oliver Richardson) and a consummate performance from Ben Hinchcliffe) as the Sultan.

The audience loved the idea of Alddin and Jasmine sitting on a Flying Carpet as they performed the lovely song 'A Whole New World'.

Every character on stage oozed talent, they were an absolute credit to the Society, backed by a delightful ensemble with good singing and great Choreorgraphy, a most exhilarating experience.

The production moved along at a good pace with splendid lighting and brilliant costumes, a thoroughly enjoyable evening, I was so pleased the audience gave it such a wonderful reception.

My sincere congratulations.
