An innovative and entertaining take on the traditional Dick Whittington story transporting the audience back to the Eighties, having all the elements of a traditional Panto, with the added bonus of eighties popular references, music, and costumes.

The cast told the story well, with a standout comedic performance from Cerys Baker as Tommy the Cat, who had me giggling away in my seat with great physicality and facial expressions, and the delightfully villainous King Rat Ross Bathurst, who had the audience hissing and booing the roof off, as a great panto villain should.

There were also some great moments from the cast, Holger Bronthulf Alsmeier’s continuous tripping over the steps a great touch, TK McCue’s deadpan Mr Spook and Ensign Fonda, all had the audience laughing away. An appearance from none other than Roland Rat also made me smile.

The cast included a number of youngsters which was lovely to see, running around the audience they seemed to be enjoying themselves.

The set was simple and effective, costumes were appropriate and colourful. There were some slight issues with sound at times, and perhaps some more microphone support for the chorus would help give them a little more volume.

Congratulations to the cast, crew. musicians and production team.
