A script which didn't cater for the need to warm the audience up or produce fast-paced comedy left characters struggling early on to make an impression. Happily, the contest between Good and Evil (with five cheeky punk rat-lings) and fine work from the ensemble got things going along with spectacular lighting, some great scenery and wonderful costumes, in support of the proper Principal Boy Dick Whittington and the expressive, athletic and balletic two-legged Cat whose miaows were as understandable as words.
