There were plenty of chances for audience participation in this production of Dick Whittington. There were some very strong portrayals from the principals who were well supported by the very hard working chorus.
Emma-Jayne Waters made an appealing Dick Whittington and her musical numbers were a delight to listen to. She has a great singing voice, and she was ably support by Kelly-Louise Smith as Alice.
It was encouraging to see some of the younger members of the company taking the lime light, and Francesa Tetley as the Cat, Hannah Anderson as Rat Bag and Lauren Akrigg as Rat Fink were all excellent. David Knights as Balthazar deserved every “boo” that he got!!!
With Will Blackie as Billy and Dean Harness as Sarah (the dame) they ensured that we got plenty of laughs throughout, but my favourite number was “My heart will go on”, which included the iconic “Titanic” pose!
Scenery, costumes and props were bright and appealing. The 4 piece band gave great musical support to the production, and played sympathetically so that every word could be heard by the audience.
It was obvious that the audience really enjoyed themselves. The high energy level shown throughout made this an enjoyable experience for children and adults alike. Congratulations to everyone involved in the production. There was clearly a lot of hard work put into it at every level.
