The Community Hall in Ashford had been transformed for the production of “Dick Whittington” so much so I thought I was in a professional theatre. This was down to Alan Stamp and his construction team of set designers. I was amazed at the professionalism that went into this, even including a trap. Exceptional.

Directed by Alan Stamp and Choreographed by Amy Louise Vass, this Dick Whittington (also written by Alan Stamp) was the most enjoyable panto I have seen in a long while, and believe me I have seen a lot of pantos. The set, music, lights, sound, and costumes were all perfect in every way.

Moving on to the cast, what can I say? Alan you choose well and they certainly did you proud. Fairy Bowbells (Bobbie-Marie Stamp) a true fairy in every way, opening the show with pyrotechnics and a beautiful joyous presence. Queen Rat (Rae Anderson) got her boo’s, Dick had a wonderful singing voice and he was teamed with Molly Spence as Tabby the cat. Silly Billy (Alan Stamp) stole the show and certainly engaged with the audience as did Dame Sarah Sweet (Cassandra Spence) - they were a great team together. Their pun cart was hilarious, not an easy feat, I know I have been there. They were all supported by Alderman Fitzwarren (Michael Fong), Alice Fitzwarren (Amy Louise Fong), Trap (Tracey Hickman) and the voice of London (John Webbo Webster). The Junior Ensemble with two boys (yay!!) gave us some great dance routines, choreographed by Amy Louise Vass.

Usually when I review a show there is something that I think should be criticised, but with this Panto there wasn’t anything that stood out, even if one forgets their lines, don’t say “oh I forgot my lines”, carry on regardless. This Dick Whittington had all the elements of a true Panto - Ashford Theatre please continue with this standard of professionalism !!.. an awesome evening I had. Well done to ALL involved.
