This was my second Dick Whittington of the season with an entirely different script written by two Society members, the Dame, Sean Brennan and The Sultan, Damian Shalks, and this was brought to life with a completely new production team.

The Pantomime revolved around comedy from the Dame, Sarah the Cook, the ever-loveable Jack, (John Murphy) Captain Jib and Shipmate Jab, ( James Chatburn, Diane Bowers) who worked extremely hard to portray each character.  Dick Whittington, (Sarah Poyner) and Alice, (Phoebe Newman) actually mother and daughter supported each other well.  There was good rivalry between Fairy Cupcake, (Anna Tiffany) and the evil villain King Rat, (Richard Walsh) and the little dancers made ecxcellent baby rats under the orders of King Rat.

The Pantomime really came to life in the second Act with the best 'Mop Routine' I have ever seen.  There was a short brightly coloured Fluoresent scene after the shipwreck and before we meet the Sultan on his Island with his lovely Harem dancing girls.

The Orchestra was unobtrusive and complimented the production throughout with a really good choice of musical numbers this year.

Good scenery and lighting effects, the set worked extremely well and the production moved along at a good pace in Act 2.

The audience were really appreciative and joined in wholeheartedly when ever necessary, and all went home happy.

A most entertaing evening, congratulations to the new production team, the cast and hard working backstage people.
