Written by J.B.Priestley “Dangerous Corner” which might be classed as a Mystery Play, is very static and wordy, and set in the 1930’s with a twist at the end.

I thought that the play was very enjoyable, but I have to say that at times it was a little slow and laboured and even though it was the opening night I was surprised by the number of prompts that were given. Unfortunately there was also a couple of embarrassing silences. However, the cast did work well together, they stayed in character, overcame the hiccups and succeeded in keeping the audience intrigued throughout. I think everyone was surprised and a little confused by the twist at the end when the first scene was repeated.

Without a doubt, despite the prompts, the overall standard of performance from the entire cast was excellent and I particularly enjoyed the character of Olwen Peel who I thought was outstanding.

The ladies dresses, whilst they may not have been in the style of the 1930’s, all looked superb. However in my opinion a little bit more thought should have been given to the men’s presentation, their evening suits were clearly from three different time periods and a twenty first century hair style looked glaringly out of place.

The auditorium was set in cabaret style, which meant the audience were able to have drink on the tables in front of them which created a nice atmosphere. A very enjoyable evenings’ entertainment.
